Washing water
Washing water analysis: optimisation and continued usability
Washing processes are an important part of the production chain in many industrial companies. Through process-accompanying analysis of the cleaning baths, the water experts from WESSLING assist you in minimising resource consumption and maximise the service life of the baths.
Depending on the number and degree of soiling of the parts to be cleaned, cleaning baths are subject to constant changes - therefore operators should regularly check their condition and should not rely solely on empirical values when dosing cleaning agents. With innovative measuring techniques, our experts can determine the surfactant concentration in washing processes, in real time. Bubble pressure tensiometry is used here - an ultra-modern process in which the concentration of free, wash-active surfactants can be deduced from the surface tension.

Pharmaceutical water
Pharmaceutical water
Our consulting services for process water are used in various industries. Amongst others, WESSLING advises drug manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and hospital dispensaries, for which a smooth production sequence is crucial. We continuously test the quality of pharmaceutical water at our GMP-certified laboratory in Münster.
Testing of aqua purificata (purified water) and aqua ad iniectabilia (water for injection, WFI)
We test your pharmaceutical water for relevant microbiological and chemical parameters such as total viable count, TOC, conductivity, nitrate, heavy metals, visible and non-visible particles in all quality stages according to the specifications of the pharmacopoeias. In this process, we can organise individual logistics solutions for you and provide suitable sampling vessels.
We also support you in the qualification of your process water plant.

Expert activities according to the 42nd Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act (BlmSchV)
Since the 42nd BImSchV came into force on 19 August 2017, compliance with this legal requirement has been of crucial importance for companies that operate recooling plants, cooling systems, cooling towers and wet scrubbers.
We are happy to provide you with our expert services in this area. Our services are aimed at a wide range of industrial clients, including the automotive industry, data centres, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, hospitals, office buildings and heavy industry. We also support authorities, associations, insurance companies, banks, department stores and institutions that need to cool rooms, be it operating theatres, server rooms or office buildings.
Our services in detail:
● Advice on keeping a company diary: support for the proper documentation of your processes in accordance with legal requirements
● Advice on exemption authorisations: accompanying the process for applying for exemptions with the responsible authority
● Detailed risk assessments in accordance with the 42nd BImSchV to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate measures
● Expert inspection in accordance with Section 14 of the 42nd BImSchV to ensure that your systems comply with the statutory provisions
As part of the on-site expert inspection, we check your systems for:
- The general condition: contamination, compliance with the generally recognised rules of technology, biocides used
- Compliance with the obligations resulting from §§ 3 to 13, including completeness of the operating log and the risk assessment
In accordance with § 14, sentence 1 of the 42nd BImSchV, existing systems must be tested depending on the initial commissioning:
- Before 19 August 2011 - examination until 19 August 2019; next examination 2024
- Before 19 August 2013 - test until 19 August 2020; next test 2025
- Before 19 August 2015 - examination until 19 August 2021; next examination 2026
- Before 19 August 2017 - examination until 19 August 2022; next examination 2027
The inspection of proper system operation must be conducted periodically every five years, i.e., five years after the last expert inspection or, for new systems, after commissioning.
Process water in industry
Water is also often necessary for production in other industries. It therefore has to be monitored and regularly analysed. WESSLING develops analysis concepts for this process water, which is used in part as washing water, a means of transport or for cooling purposes. Our experts ensure that production plants can use this natural resource efficiently each and every day.
Power plants also use process water – they require low-ion water to operate steam turbines. Trained specialists (VGB) from WESSLING are on hand to help them, in close cooperation, to develop concepts for precise chemical monitoring of the water that is used at trace levels. Our experts also guarantee that all parameters are monitored quickly and continuously each working day.
